(from  Carolina Girl Genealogy )  My cousin and his wife live in my great grandparents house.  They are cleaning out the attic and these wonderful treasures were found!!  My cousin's wife is going to scan them and share them with me.  She found a lot more too!  So very excited!!

I have a tree on Ancestry, Wiki Tree, and My Heritage.  The Ancestry tree is my work in progress tree and the others are mainly there for others to find and connect with me.  Recently, I made a connection through Wiki Tree when another member wanted to merge one of my ancestors with hers as they represented the same person.  While looking at her tree I recognized a lot of names in her tree. We chatted through email and found out that we are researching the same area and that many of our ancestors are connected in one way or another. The weekend seems to mess up my posting!  I will be playing catch-up for the next few days. The image below shows the relationship between myself and my grandmother.  {look close...you can see how OLD I am.} The first relationship shows her as my grandmother...nothing new there.  {This is my mom's mom.} If you look close there are actually two relationships!  What?!  It says she is also my 2nd cousin twice removed.  How can that be??  The right side of the screen below is my information going through my dad back to my 3rd great-grandfather.  The information on the right is my grandmother {my moms mom} and that also goes back to the same 3rd great-grandfather.  So my grandmother is my grandmother and my 2nd cousin twice removed.  What?  Unbelievable!!  If you notice the last name is the same but spelled differently.  There is a story that my 2nd great-grandfather and his brother got in a fight so Alon...

 I use a Residence Event / Fact anytime there is an address listed that is not from a Census.  The residence can be found on any number of documents.  The one shown below from 4 Nov 1945 is from Harold's WWII Army discharge papers {shown in the image below.} Individual Information screen showing Harold Elwood Seigfreid {my great grandfather.}  In his Event / Fact list you can see his two residence facts at the bottom {I see I need to add a source to the 2nd one.} This is Harold's chronology view.  You can see where the two Residence Facts / Events fall in with the rest of the Events / Facts in his lifetime {in green above.}  How do you record the Residence Fact / Event in your database?     Alonzo Elwood Seigfreid's draft information is recorded in a Military Draft Registration Event/Fact. A Residence Event/Fact is also created using the address provided on the form.  Both the Military Draft Registration and the Residence Fact/Even are shared with anyone else listed on the form.  You can see the Event/Fact in the image to the right; they are marked with the green arrows. All information on the Draft Registration for is put in the notes section of the Military Draft Registration Event/Fact.  The name of the war is recorded in the Description field, the Date field is the date on the Draft Registration form, and the place is recorded as where the draft board was located. This is my great grandfather, Harold Seigfreid. Harold was born in Shickshinny, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA on 5 May 1918 to Alonzo Elwood and Edna Mae Gensel Seigfreid. On the 1920 census Harold is living with his parents and he is 1 year 5 months old.  They live in Foundryville, Briar Creek Township, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, USA. On the 1930 census Harold is living in Philipstown, Putnam, New York, USA with is parents and he is 11 years old.  Also living in the household are his brothers Walter and William Seigfreid and his Aunt (his mother's sister) Myrtle Gensel Meeker with her husband Owen and daughter Mary. In 1932 Harold leaves school; he is only 14 years of age. In 1934 Harold started working in the mines.  He worked at the Stackhouse Coal Company in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania from 1934 to 1937; the Glen Alden Coal Company in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania from 1937 to 1941; the Salem Collieries in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania from 1945 to 1948. ...

    On November 27, 1938 (75 years ago today) Harold E. Seigfreid married Hazel Alice Killian.   Harold was born on May 5, 1918 in Shickshinny, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and he died on 30 Jul 1995 in Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. Hazel was born on January 30, 1918 in Salem Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and she died January 12, 1993 in Shickshinny Valley, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Hazel and Harold are buried next to each other in the Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Together, they raised two boys Byron and Howard.  They were blessed with grandchildren and many great grandchildren who were the highlight of their lives.  They were the kindest, most generous people that I have ever known.   It seems like just yesterday they were both here and we were sitting at the kitchen table eating supper together; those are some of my most memorable moments. Seigfreid is one of the surnames that I have been researching; it is my maiden name.  I have always known that the "ei" is sometimes "ie" but I didn't know about all of the Siegfried history in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Northampton in Northampton County use to be Siegfried at one time because of the Siegfried family that settled there. In the last month I have found a lot of information about the Siegfried family thanks to some new friends I have met along the way. One of the most helpful has been Leon Borst.  Through him I have found a Siegfried cemetery, Siegfried's Dale, and Siegfried.  The more I research the more interested...ok infatuated with Siegfried. In a recent search I found the above post card on Ebay and snatched it up immediately {I just found another one tonight and now it is also mine}.  Under the image of the back of the postcard I have transcribed what the sender wrote.  The stamp on the back of the postcard says Sieg...

I was on Family Search  browsing the Pennsylvania County Marriages, 1885 - 1950 images looking for a marriage license or record for Daisy Pauline Gensel and imagine my surprise when I found my great grandparents on there.  Harold and Hazel (Killian) Seigfreid married 27 Nov 1938.  I was going to look for it but I just had not gotten to it.  The best part is that both of my great grandparent's signatures are on the marriage license application! My great grandmother's father, Byron Killian, also signed it as well as my great grandfather's mother, Edna (Gensel) Killian. I cannot wait to see what other treasures I can find!
