Saturday Night Genealogy Fun on Sunday

1) Dana Leeds on the Enthusiastic Genealogist blog asks "Did/Do Your Children Know Any of Their Great-Grandparents?"

2) I thought that would be a great Saturday Night Genealogy Fun question - so please share your response with us in a blog post of your own, in a comment on this blog post, or in a Facebook or Google+ post.

3) For extra credit, or in case the answer is "No," then please answer the question for yourself, or your parents.

Luckily for my son, Hunter, he knows 5 of his great grandparents! My mother's parents, my father's dad and step mom and my dad's mom. He is very close with his great grandfathers and his grandfather; he spends a lot of time hunting with them. (I hope he knows how lucky he is!!)

I was also lucky enough to know my great grandparents. I knew my maternal paternal great grandmother, my paternal paternal great grandparents and my paternal step maternal great grandmother. My paternal paternal great grandparents lived out the road from house until Grandpa died in 1995. When I was in elementary school I would go to their house after school and most nights we ate dinner with them. My sister and I would go to church with them on Sunday's and out for lunch after church. They were wonderful people!!

I miss my great grandparents more all the time! I am very grateful that I was able to know them!

The Great Genealogy Shape Up of 2018!

For most of 2017, I spent my genealogy time cleaning up my database in Legacy Family Tree. I'm still working on cleaning up messes from when I first started my family tree. For 2018, I plan to continue cleaning up my database. I would also like to finish adding all Find A Grave information to my database as well. Find A Grave is a great place to find leads to research. Legacy makes it very easy to find everyone in your database who do not have Find A Grave memorials. Click the drop-down arrow on the Find A Grave icon and it gives you the following options: I selected create a list of people without a Find A Grave Memorial and I got a nice LONG list of people. From this list, I have been able to find more ancestors to research and add to my database. My other goal for 2018 is to find the people in my database who do not have a source {yes, I said without a source. Gasp!} Leg...

Evernote Genealogy Shared Notebook | An Update

I have been working on updating the Evernote Genealogy Notebook with some new templates and new screen shots. If you have not joined the Genealogy Notebook you can find the instructions here . Florence M. Lewis Myers Hunter

I've had a really hard time deciding who to write about for this week. I do not have a lot of information about Florence but since I wrote about her husband George Washington Hunter last week I thought why not continue the story…or lack thereof. Florence was born 5 Sep 1863 in Muhlenburg, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA to Edward C. and Ellen (Elenore) Bonham Lewis. Florence was the oldest of three children; Boaz Lewis was born about 1870 and Clemmence Lewis was born about 1872 [I have not done any research on her siblings yet]. I have not found the family on the 1870 census yet but I am expecting to find them in Luzerne County. In 1880 the family was living in Union Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA. In 1883 she married her first husband, Orel Kizer Myers. The 1900 census has them living in Hunlock Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, USA. They had the following children: 1. ...
