I'm finally getting around to doing this. On Saturday March 22, 2014 Randy Seaver from Genea-Musings posted Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- How Many Surnames in Your Database. Randy's mission: 1)  Go into your Genealogy Management Program (GMP; either software on your computer, or an online family tree) and figure out how to Count how many surnames you have in your family tree database. 2)  Tell us which GMP you're using and how you did this task. 3)  Tell us how many surnames are in your database and, if possible, which Surname has the most entries.  If this excites you, tell us which surnames are in the top 5!  Or 10!!  Or 20!!! 4)  Write about it in your own blog post, in a comment to this blog post, in a status or comment on Facebook, or in Google Plus Stream post. As I've been working on the history of my family I have been hearing/reading a lot about research plans.  Do I really need to use one??I've been googling trying to find out more.  I use  Evernote  as my other brain for the things I don't want to forget but know that I will.  I've been trying to come up with a template for Evernote to help with my research.  I think I've finally done it. The first part of the above Research Plan includes some background information about her and her parents.  Then there is a place for birth, marriage, death and burial information.  In red you will see what I don't have.  One of the great things about Evernote is that I can link to other notes and then when I click on the note link it will take me to the linked note.  (note links are green and links to websites are blue).
