William Andrew Siegfried


William Andrew Siegfreid is my 2nd great grandfather.  He is the son of William Henry and Eve Greenzwig Siegfried.

William was born 21 October 1857 in Millport, Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon county, Pennsylvania and he died on 16 February 1927 in Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania.

William married Emma Lydia Shellhammer in 1880.  They had the following children:

  1. Otto Siegfried
  2. William Edger Siegfried
  3. Arthur Siegfried -- I'm not sure if this is really another child or if he is Archibald...more things for my to do list!
  4. Archibald (Archie) Siegfried
  5. Cassia Siegfried
  6. Charles Crawford Siegfried
  7. Darwin Wesley Seigfreid (my great grandfather)
  8. Gertrude Siegfried
  9. Harry Siegfried
  10. Harty Titus Siegfried
  11. Hattie Siegfried
  12. Dorothy Siegfried

I found William living in Luzerne county on the 1880 census in Black Creek, the 1900 census in Sugar Loaf, the 1910 census in Sugar Loaf and the 1920 census in Sugar Loaf.  I do now know when or why he moved 

I also know that William is buried in Red Rock Cemetery, Red Rock, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania.

I want to know more about this family!  I will continue searching for more clues.

For most of 2017, I spent my genealogy time cleaning up my database in Legacy Family Tree.  I'm still working on cleaning up messes from when I first started my family tree.  For 2018, I plan to continue cleaning up my database.  I would also like to finish adding all Find A Grave information to my database as well.   Find A Grave is a great place to find leads to research.  Legacy makes it very easy to find everyone in your database who do not have Find A Grave memorials.   Click the drop-down arrow on the Find A Grave icon and it gives you the following options: I selected create a list of people without a Find A Grave Memorial and I got a nice LONG list of people.  From this list, I have been able to find more ancestors to research and add to my database. How I Use Evernote for My Genealogy.

Hopefully this will clear up any questions you may have. How I use Evernote for my genealogy. I use Evernote to store everything including my genealogy research. You want to use Evernote in a way that makes sense to you.  Tags, notebooks, no tags or no notebooks; do whatever works the best for you. Notebooks  (the  blue  box) Notebooks are sorted alphabetically so if there are notebooks you want at the top of your list you can use ! or @ or ~ in front of your notebook title.  In my image, for example, I have my INBOX notebook with an ! in front to keep this notebook at the top of the list.  I use a ~ to keep my GENEALOGY notebook stacks together. ...

Saturday Genealogy Fun On Monday!

I'm finally getting around to doing this. On Saturday March 22, 2014 Randy Seaver from Genea-Musings posted Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- How Many Surnames in Your Database. Randy's mission: 1)  Go into your Genealogy Management Program (GMP; either software on your computer, or an online family tree) and figure out how to Count how many surnames you have in your family tree database. 2)  Tell us which GMP you're using and how you did this task. 3)  Tell us how many surnames are in your database and, if possible, which Surname has the most entries.  If this excites you, tell us which surnames are in the top 5!  Or 10!!  Or 20!!! 4)  Write about it in your own blog post, in a comment to this blog post, in a status or comment on Facebook, or in Google Plus Stream post.
