The Great Genealogy Shape Up of 2018!

For most of 2017, I spent my genealogy time cleaning up my database in Legacy Family Tree. I'm still working on cleaning up messes from when I first started my family tree. For 2018, I plan to continue cleaning up my database. I would also like to finish adding all Find A Grave information to my database as well.

Find A Grave is a great place to find leads to research. Legacy makes it very easy to find everyone in your database who do not have Find A Grave memorials.

Click the drop-down arrow on the Find A Grave icon and it gives you the following options:

I selected create a list of people without a Find A Grave Memorial and I got a nice LONG list of people. From this list, I have been able to find more ancestors to research and add to my database.

My other goal for 2018 is to find the people in my database who do not have a source {yes, I said without a source. Gasp!} Legacy also makes it very easy to find these people. You want to click on Search {in the image of the toolbar above it is the magnifying glass icon} and then on the Missing Sources tab. I chose the first option which is to find all individuals who have no source.

Next, click on Create List at the bottom of the window and you will get a list of everyone in your database without a source. There are a lot more than I thought there were. I see lots of late nights in my future.

Goodbye Evernote, Hello OneNote

What? I'm leaving Evernote behind! As most of you know I have been a huge Evernote supporter from the beginning and I have had a paid membership from the beginning {until October 1st}. There has been a lot of talk about Evernote not lasting much longer because they have been making a lot of changes and letting people go. That got me thinking about what I would do if they did cease to exist. I started looking at all of my options and the best option, for me, is OneNote. I already have it on my computer and it is free. I can use OneNote on my desktop, laptop, phone, and table all for free. I can still use tags {a bit different than what I am use to but it works and I am finding that I really don't need that many tags}.
